Egyption sheets are not necessarily made there in Egypt by Egyptions, although in some cases they may be.  The most important thing is that they are made with Egytption cotton. Most sheets are mechanically made in service countries such as the United States or most countries in Europe.  Egyption cotten is known for being particularly soft and strong and generally higher quality.  This is why Egytpion sheets are so well known.  Their cotten is world renowned for it's quality, and the fact that is has been around and well for centuries helps.

Origins of Egyption Sheets

The origin is very simple. The origin of the Egyption sheet can be traced back to the fields of Egypt.  Egypt has been growing cotten for centuries and not like we have in todays modern world.  They take great pride in what they do and have very strict, human controlled, quality controls.  Unlike many of todays great countries, whose farmers sacrifice quality for quantity by adding harsh chemicals and pesticide and prefer to get things out fast and mechanically, many Egyption cottons are sorted through to get the very best.  If you want to know where your sheets came from, you can normally call the destributer or find the name of the namufacturer and ask them or look them up.

Most Sheets 

Most sheets made today, that carry the name Egyption, have a much higher thread count than your averages sheet.  The people who make them go all out when using Egyption cotton.  After all they aren't going to use some of the best cotton in the world to produce a mediocre sheet that they can sell for slightly more than they would usually charge.  Most of the sheets made have a thread count in the upper hundreds and sometime exceed one thousand and are sold to hotels all over the world.
